YES, SENATOR SCHATZ, YOUR PARTY HAS PLENTY OF VILE BIGOTS, TOO

Over the weekend, Hawaii Senator Brian Schatz made this incredulous claim on Twitter:

Democrats do not have their own version of Joe Arpaio or Don Blankenship or Roy Moore. Our ‘extremists’ just want everyone have education, healthcare, and housing. I should clarify that I know both parties have had plenty of objectionable people throughout history, it just seems very uneven this year, and Arpaio, Blankenship and Moore have no version of them on the D side in terms of Senate candidates.”

Boy oh boy does it take selective memory to come up with a line like that.

Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse has suggested that climate change skeptics be jailed.

Alan Grayson — who was a Democratic congressman up until 2017 — seems to believe that Republicans are mass murderers.

Hillary Clinton said half the country’s voters are deplorable human beings.

But yes, no hate at all Senator Schatz.

I could go on and on. But instead, I will simply skip to my all time favorite hate-monger, who just so happens to be the #2 man in charge of the DNC.

Congressman Keith Ellison.

Here is Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz on Ellison’s long history of anti-semitism:

“When there were protests about Stokely Carmichael’s speaking at the University of Minnesota, Ellison responded that: ‘The University’s position appears to be this: Political Zionism is off-limits no matter what dubious circumstances Israel was founded under; no matter what the Zionists do to the Palestinians; and no matter what wicked regimes Israel allies itself with — like South Africa. This position is untenable.’

But the connections are more recent as well. In 2009, Ellison headlined a fundraiser for Esam Omeish, a former candidate for Virginia state delegate who had told Palestinians that “the jihad way is the way to liberate your land.”

With regard to Israel, Ellison was one of only a small number of Congress people who recently voted against funding the Iron Dome, a missile system used by Israel to protect its civilians against rocket attacks by Hamas and Hezbollah. His voting record with regard to the Nation State of the Jewish people is among the very worst in Congress.”

Ad of course, there is the icing on the anti-semitic cake: Ellison’s decades long support for Reverend Louis Farakhan.

Recently, Farrakhan gave a speech in front of thousands of people, including women’s march co-founder Tamika Mallory.

Courtesy of CNN’s Jake Tapper, here are some of the Reverend’s greatest hits from that day……

“Shortly after 1:10:50 in the video Farrakhan proclaims that “the powerful Jews are my enemy.”

At 2:57:00 he begins approvingly quoting some of the anti-Semitic comments made by Rev. Billy Graham and President Richard Nixon in the Oval Office.

At 2:59:00 Farrakhan approvingly cites Nixon and Graham attacking Jews’ “grip on the media” and Hollywood and “how the Jews were responsible for all of this filth and degenerate behavior that Hollywood is putting out turning men into women and women into men.”

At 3:15, Farrakhan calls Jews ‘the mother and father of apartheid, the Jews.”

At 3;49: “White folks are going down. And Satan is going down. And Farrakhan …has pulled the cover off the eyes of that Satanic Jew and I’m here to say your time is up, your world is through.”

Go ahead and read through the above quotes. I’ll wait.

Full disclosure: I’m a Jewish man and Vice President of the American Jewish Congress. When I read or hear for myself what Farrakhan says, I am horrified.

Not because I take him seriously. He’s clearly a deranged lunatic and a massive anti-Semite.

What scares me is that there are people who openly talk to him and associate with him in a way that as Tapper noted, is simply not called out the way it would be for somebody like David Duke.

Mallory was at this speech and is heavily involved with the women’s march. I wonder what Jewish women would think if they heard that.

And of course, most importantly, there is Ellison — the 2nd highest-ranking democrat in the DNC and one of the highest ranking democrats in the house — who met with Farrakhan numerous times and paled around with him until he ran for DNC Chair and had to distance himself for political reasons.

Even President Obama met with Farrakhan when he was a sitting Senator.

It’s nauseating.

Now, some will say that Farrakhan is somehow different from Arpaio or Moore.

He is not.

Bigotry is bigotry. It is either ok or it is not.

If you cannot see that, then I do not know what to tell you.

What Farrakhan has said over the years — and Ellison has supported — let alone that one recent speech, is as vile and disgusting and anything tat has ever been said by anybody of either party.

For anybody who has not figured this out already, it is time to call Louis Farrakhan out for what he is.

He is every bit as toxic, disgusting, and racist as David Duke, Richard Spencer, or anybody else in the white identity movement.

And Ellison, by supporting Farrakhan and his racist garbage, has showed himself over the years to be every bit as disgusting — if not more so — as anybody ever run by Republicans.

Anybody who thinks otherwise either does not want to see the truth or is part of the problem.

Which apparently includes Senator Schatz.

So, Senator, I suggest if you want some examples of exactly what you claim to hate within your own party, take a look at those I mentioned and others I did not.

But more to the point, take a long, hard look at the #2 man in your party’s national committee.

You can try explaining him away all you want, Senator. But he exists and his racist record speaks loudly and clearly.
