Two revealing news articles sent the Democratic Party into paroxysms in December. As the New Year dawns, the upheaval hasn’t yet settled.
“A Weary Biden Heads for the Exit,” Peter Baker and Zolan Kanno-Youngs revealed for the New York Times in December. “Still stinging from the election, President Biden is pushing for his final priorities but has largely absented himself from the national conversation about Donald Trump after warning repeatedly that he was a threat to American democracy.”
“How the White House Functioned With a Diminished Biden in Charge,” Annie Linskey, Rebecca Ballhaus, Emily Glazer, and Siobhan Hughes explained in painstaking detail for the Wall Street Journal. “Aides kept meetings short and controlled access, top advisers acted as go-betweens and public interactions became more scripted. The administration denied Biden has declined.”
