With Trump’s numbers climbing and internal friction within the Democratic camp, Kamala Harris’s campaign enters a critical phase just weeks before Election Day.

The polling bump Vice President Kamala Harris enjoyed shortly after gaining the Democratic Party nomination for President appears to be over. Conservatives are celebrating — almost certainly prematurely. Among progressives, there is a good deal of weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Trump might win this election,” fumed Nicole Russell for USA Today on Monday. “What does that say about the Democratic Party?

“How bad do you have to be to lose to Donald Trump?” Russell huffed. “Kamala Harris and Tim Walz may soon show us. If Democrats aren’t panicking yet, they might want to start.”

“In six of the seven battleground states, former President Donald Trump now shows a slight lead in the polls,” Russell noted. “An NBC News poll released Sunday shows Harris and Trump tied in the national vote. We are three weeks out from Election Day and one thing has become clear: Trump might actually win.”

By the numbers, the polling picture — instead of becoming more clear — seems to be getting muddier by the day.
