Veterans Day Unites All Americans on Military Readiness

On one particular point, Americans should unite on Veteran’s Day:

“I hope that we never have to fight a major war, but if we do, we should win it.” — Col. Gary Anderson (ret).

No one wants war, the escalation of war, or any semblance of war. But we should all hope that American military might would prevail in the event of one. Better still, we should all hope that American military might remains a sufficient deterrent to world war, as it has been for decades.

Still, the world appears to be inching closer to escalating conflicts by the day, and the United States might need its military might. With military buildups, trade disputes, and cyber confrontations on the rise, experts warn of a dangerous spiral toward confrontation.

Recent flare-ups in Eastern Europe, East Asia, and the Middle East have amplified fears that smaller conflicts could draw in major players, sparking wider regional wars.
