With President Biden underwater in the polls, the question of Trump’s running mate is getting serious.

While many major U.S. news outlets are focusing on former President Donald Trump’s legal troubles, news organizations catering to a wider audience are speculating breathlessly on the VP job.

Trump narrows VP search to just SEVEN candidates as vetting papers are sent out to potential running mates — here’s who makes the list and when he will announce his pick,” Alex Hammer reported for the Daily Mail. “Sources close to Trump spoke anonymously to discuss the outreach efforts,” detailed Hammer. “Doug Burgum, Marco Rubio, JD Vance and Tim Scott were allegedly contacted.”

“Florida Rep. Byron Donalds, New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, and Trump’s 2016 rival-turned cabinet member Ben Carson were also said to be on the list — a set of seven who will vetted after they fill out the forms, two others said,” Hammer added.

Trump, for his part, has been cagey on the subject of VP pick, hinting that he might wait for the July Republican National Convention to announce his decision.

No one, including Trump’s team, has been willing to comment on the leaked list.
