Texas Hilton cancels conference hosted by Palestinian rights group, citing ‘escalating security concerns,’” reported Samantha Delouya for CNN on Wednesday.

“The event was set to take place from October 27 through October 29 and counted Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and American political activist Linda Sarsour as speakers,” Delouya wrote.

In a statement to CNN, the Hilton Houston Post Oak by the Galleria said it “does not endorse the positions of third-party groups or organization” and cited the “safety and security of our Team Members and guests” as the reason for the cancelation.

While the hotel chain, its owners, and its subsidiaries, are likely to face backlash online for a short time — until the world’s keyboard warriors move on to another convenient target — canceling the event was still the right thing to do.

Any major hotel chain, and any other respectable company, would want to avoid any association with extremists of any variety. Linda Sarsour has a long and well-documented history of anti-Semitic remarks.
