Should VP Harris Talk Tough on Border Security?
Not everyone is convinced that hyper-progressive VP Kamala Harris should bother tacking to the center on illegal border crossings.
As Vice President Kamala Harris faces ongoing criticism regarding the U.S. southern border crisis, questions arise about her readiness to take a stronger stance on the issue.
Since being tasked by President Biden with overseeing efforts to stem the flow of migrants in 2021, Harris has primarily focused on addressing the root causes of migration from Central America, such as poverty, violence, and corruption. However, her approach has drawn criticism from both conservatives and progressives who feel she hasn’t effectively tackled the difficult.
The criticism has hurt Harris in the polls.
“Harris campaign weighs trip to the US southern border amid polling concerns,” reported Priscilla Alvarez for CNN two weeks ago, to the surprise of progressives and conservatives.
“Campaign officials are weighing a potential visit by Vice President Kamala Harris to the US-Mexico border while in Arizona on Friday as the campaign tries to close the gap with former President Donald Trump on the issue of immigration, according to two sources familiar with the discussions,” Alvarez informed readers of CNN.
