Sen. Joe Lieberman: Friend, Role Model, and Man of the People
Long live his spirit of public service, kindness, and Tsedeq.
“Former CT Senator Joe Lieberman dies after fall at age 82,” NBC Connecticut broke the sad news today.
“Former United States Senator Joseph I. Lieberman died this afternoon, March 27, 2024, in New York City due to complications from a fall,” announced the Lieberman family in a statement. “He was 82 years old. His beloved wife, Hadassah, and members of his family were with him as he passed. Senator Lieberman’s love of God, his family, and America endured throughout his life of service in the public interest.”
“Senator Lieberman’s funeral will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Congregation Agudath Sholom in his hometown of Stamford, CT,” reported CNN’s Jake Trapper on X. “An additional memorial service will be announced at a later date.”
Those of us fortunate enough to know the Senator personally, knew him to be a person of tremendous dedication, selfless public service, and unfailing kindness.
His loss is one of the greatest of our century, at a time when American political life could most benefit from his example and philosophy of party teamwork and anti-partisanship.
