“There will be accountability within the FBI,” newly minted Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Kash Patel promised after his swearing-in ceremony last week.

After effusively thanking U.S. President Donald Trump, who he called a “courageous warrior and leader,” Mr. Patel declared, “The faith and trust he put in me to lead the FBI is the greatest honor I will ever have in my life.”

The newest director of the nation’s foremost law enforcement agency hit a few major themes during his first address as head of the FBI.

Trump’s Dream Team

FBI Director Kash Patel noted several times in his speech the close, long-term, professional relationship some of President Trump’s cabinet appointees enjoy.

Unlike in 2017, when he largely bent to the will of Republican Party leadership and Washington’s establishment, President Trump has populated his inner circle of advisors and executives with experienced loyalists in 2025.

“And to General Bondi, that sounds pretty freaking cool, Pam, you are my sister, my mentor, my friend, my boss, and the confidence you have placed in me — I would never violate that trust,” FBI Director Patel promised.
