Why the Pandemic Probably Started in a Lab, in 5 Key Points,” MIT molecular biologist Dr. Alina Chan wrote for the New York Times on June 3, 2024.

Dr. Chan recently co-authored a book on the subject, “Viral: The Search for the Origin of Covid-19.”

Her recent book — and the lengthy article in the NYT — came just as Dr. Anthony Fauci is facing questions on Capitol Hill over COVID-19 guidelines, closures, and even more contentious topics.

After decrying the partisanship that derailed earlier attempts to discover the origins of COVID-19, Dr. Chan dropped the following bombshell on readers of the New York Times:

“On Monday, Dr. Anthony Fauci returned to the halls of Congress and testified before the House subcommittee investigating the Covid-19 pandemic. He was questioned about several topics related to the government’s handling of Covid-19, including how the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which he directed until retiring in 2022, supported risky virus work at a Chinese institute whose research may have caused the pandemic.”
