Pardon the Mess
President Biden’s pardon power is giving the chattering classes a lot to complain about. Will it lead to anything?
For years, President Joe Biden insisted — over and over — that he would not pardon his son Hunter Biden.
To the surprise of almost no one, the President betrayed his promise — and, some say, the Democratic Party — by using the President’s sweeping Constitutional pardon power to benefit his son.
Conservative media outlets gleefully reposted old social media posts from progressive journalists and media personalities who bragged that Biden would never abuse his power in such a way.
Indeed, these same authorities defended legal proceedings against former and future President Donald Trump by pointing out Mr. Biden’s failure to intervene in the US legal system to benefit Hunter Biden.
“See!” these luminaries assured their audiences of millions of impressionable voters. “No one is above the law. Not Hunter Biden. Not Donald Trump.”
These, of course, are the same media progressives who no doubt believe that Hunter Biden collected millions of dollars from questionable quarters in Ukraine and China — for 10 years — and they received nothing in return.
Now that the “Hunter Biden is being prosecuted argument has fallen apart, Democrats are in a bit of disarray.
