It’s too late to “Pick Nikki” unless your name is Donald Trump.

Nikki Haley says she’ll vote for Donald Trump in 2024 presidential race,” announced Karissa Waddick and David Jackson for USA TODAY on May 22.

The news came as quite a shock to a dwindling but determined cohort of staunchly anti-Trump partisans, Democrats and Republicans.

For her part, Haley had this to say:

“I put my priorities on a president who’s going to have the backs of our allies and hold our enemies to account who would secure the border. Trump has not been perfect on these policies. I’ve made that clear many, many times. But Biden has been a catastrophe. So I will be voting for Trump.”

Some of Haley’s other remarks on the subject during the same Hudson Institute foreign policy panel set off a firestorm of speculation.

Haley may have been alluding to the vice presidency with the following:

“Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me and continue to support me and not assume that they’re just going to be with him. And I genuinely hope he does.”
