Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate is thrilling liberal Democrats.

Kamala Harris Picks Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for VP Running Mate,” reported Mini Racker for the Daily Beast on Tuesday.

The eagerly awaited announcement thrilled some and chilled others in a Democratic Party still coping with the unexpected exit of President Joe Biden two weeks ago.

“An unassuming former high school teacher and football coach, Walz, 60, emerged as a surprise standout in the Democratic veepstakes by coining the viral label ‘weird’ for Donald Trump and J.D. Vance,” gushed Racker. “The chief executive of a Democratic-leaning state that Republicans have nonetheless said they are making a play for, the Minnesotan brings rural roots and Midwestern appeal to crucial swing states Harris needs to win.”

Not everyone is expected to take the news so well. Philadelphia Inquirer political reporter Julia Terruso had this to say after speaking with an as-yet-unnamed Harris staffer:
