Maybe Republicans Want the Trump Administration Without Trump

Republicans may want a strong economy, energy independence, and a secure border. Do they need Donald Trump?

What does the future hold for Donald Trump?

After an embarrassing showing of Trump-endorsed candidates in the 2022 midterm election, more than a few Republican voters are looking around to see who else might want the job.

It isn’t exactly a great job, least of all for a Republican President.

Holding the Oval Office doesn’t pay very well. Being President is often acknowledged as the most stressful job in the world. Looking at before and after photos of former U.S. Presidents, a strong case could be made for the prematurely aging effects of stress on the human body.

The press never stops hounding you — especially when you’re a Republican. The amount of journalistic ink dedicated to Donald J. Trump could fill the Grand Canyon. If all presidents and politicians got that astounding level of voracious attention from the press, this would be a very different country with very different leaders.

After 2022, any Republican candidate for President should expect their tax returns to be made public at some point. Any Democratic candidate should expect the same treatment, come to that. Turnabout is fair play, after all.
