After almost four years in a Russian prison, Marc Fogel is free at last.

“Fogel was arrested in Moscow in 2021 after entering the country with roughly 0.6 ounce of cannabis that his family and lawyer said was prescribed by a doctor in the United States to treat chronic pain,” explained Jordan King for Newsweek on February 12, 2025. “He was sentenced to 14 years in prison in June 2022.”

“His family and supporters had long pushed for his release, arguing that his punishment was excessive,” added King.
