Why is it so hard to condemn terrorism without exception?

When People Tell You Who They Are, Believe Them,” enjoined Free Press writer and editor Bari Weiss on October 10, 2023.

Bari Weiss, along with so many others, has been expressing shock and horror in recent days — not only at the graphic images and videos pouring out of Israel after a devastating terrorist attack by Hamas but at progressives in the U.S. and around the world willing to express public support for terrorism.

“Look carefully at who is calling this bloodshed ‘liberation,’” she urged. “And who is remaining silent.”

Weiss, a former columnist with the New York Times, publicly broke with her fellow progressives several years ago over — among other issues — a growing wave of anti-Semitism on the left stemming from the “Free Palestine” in-crowd.

Ms. Weiss, who happens to be Jewish herself, has been shouting into the whirlwinds of the Democratic Party ever since, warning about the pernicious influence of popularized anti-Semitism.

“At the end of the Second World War, it took the Allies months, if not years, to uncover the full scale of Germany’s war crimes,” mused Weiss this week. “That’s because the Nazis tried to hide them.”
