Israel and U.S. Strengthen Ties With Biden Visit
President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid have released a joint statement recommitting to partnership, peace and a safer Middle East.
“The leaders of the United States and Israel, President Biden and Prime Minister Yair Lapid, met in Jerusalem on 14 July 2022, and adopted the following Joint Declaration on the US-Israel Strategic Partnership,” declared the official White House statement, issued on July 14, 2022, even as President Joe Biden continued his official progression in the Middle East.
There are always any number of pressing concerns in the Middle East and its environs, 2022 being no exception. There are proxy wars being conducted by the rogue government of Iran to be considered, along with Iran’s growing nuclear program and ambitions. Extremist groups, terrorists and criminal cartels constantly beset the region.
Complicating all that is the prospect of Middle Eastern oil in a time of near-crisis level fuel costs in the U.S. Prior to a few years ago, U.S. dependence on Saudi oil was waning; today it is as strong as ever, and growing stronger.
