Gov. Kristi Noem Hits the Third Rail
Don’t promise to cut Social Security and don’t brag about killing your dog.
While former President Donald Trump’s current search for a running mate is being overshadowed by his legal woes, one candidate’s vice presidential hopes seem to be going up in smoke.
Like many political candidates and elected officials in both parties, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem recently wrote a book to raise her profile.
Noem’s book, No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward, has garnered a fair bit of publicity over the past few days.
Unfortunately for Gov. Noem, it is for all the wrong reasons.
“Trump VP contender Kristi Noem writes of killing dog — and goat — in new book,” announced Martin Pengelly for The Guardian on April 26, 2024. “South Dakota governor includes bloody tale in campaign volume — and admits ‘a better politician wouldn’t tell the story here.’”
“Kristi Noem’s story of killing her dog points to class two misdemeanor,” noted Pengelly tartly.
In the book, Noem recounts the sad story of “Cricket” a high-spirited, year-old pup who ruined a pheasant hunt and killed a neighbor’s chickens.
