“Protecting Americans from the threat of terrorism is and remains our number one priority,” FBI Director Christopher Wray said this week.

“FBI Director Christopher Wray warns Congress of terror threats inspired by Hamas’ attack on Israel,” reported Robert Legare for CBS News on October 31, 2023.

The frightening warning, coming as it did on Halloween, was a grim reminder of the devastating terror attack perpetrated against Israel on October 7. It was also an inadvertent reminder of the U.S. border crisis.

After growing unchecked for years under President Biden, the number of unvetted migrants arriving over the southern border has swollen to historic proportions.

But it wasn’t until Republican Governors like Gregg Abbott (R-TX) and Ron DeSantis (R-FL) began sending busloads of newly arrived migrants to deep blue sanctuary cities like Chicago and New York City that the issue began to gain traction in the media.

What probably started as a cheap political gambit has blossomed into one of the most successful political strategies in recent memory. Border states and communities, and the officials elected to run them, have been grousing for years about the unsustainable influx of newly arrived migrants.
