With campaign fatigue already settling over voters like a pall, it’s going to be a long year.

The Latest Protest Vote Against Biden,” warned James Freeman for the Wall Street Journal on March 21, 2024. “Ohio sends a warning to the White House.”

“When primary protest votes against President Joe Biden were cast by the Democratic party’s anti-Israel wing, he could wear them as a badge of honor,” recalled Freeman. “But something else may be happening now, even as the president has locked up his party’s nomination to run for re-election this fall.”

“In Ohio this week, one of the Democratic Party’s more Israel-friendly lawmakers ran surprisingly well in the presidential primary, and he’s not even a candidate anymore,” he stressed. “Meanwhile in Kansas this week, ‘None of the names shown’ received the support of more than 10% of Democratic primary voters, while Marianne Williamson, who quit the race and then returned, received more than 3%.”

Still, plenty of Republicans broke rank with the overwhelming majority of Republican Party primary voters to back candidates other than former President Donald Trump. That might also be seen as the same sort of protest vote.

But Republican Party internecine squabbles aside, Trump’s polling continues to improve.
